In America it has gotten to the point where many of us feel the government does not do an adequate job of enforcing conformity. So we choose to live in condos and housing developments which are loaded with restrictive covenants, and are subject to the tyranny of self-important homeowners' associations.
From time to time we find these little tyrants banning the flying of the American flag. It happened most recently to Merrill Magowan, an Arizona State University student and army veteran, who rents a home in the pretentiously named Chateau de Vie III neighborhood in Scottsdale.
The HOA felt an American flag hanging from her porch ruined the "aesthetic character of the community".
Personally, I don't care what Federal or Arizona law says, and least of all what the rules and regulations of the Homeowners Association provide, nor how their parasitic management company interprets them and I don't think Miss Magowan does either.
If push comes to shove, I don't think a jury will care either!
These self-important HOA directors are always a colossal pain in the "You Know What". It comes with the territory, only little toadies, with severe Napoleonic complexes, seek out these jobs.
And considering the source, most people will begrudgingly go along with their unreasonable requests.
But not when it comes to this sort of thing.
