SERVICE CORP ELECTION TO HAVE NO CLEAR WINNERS

The Condo Communicator has learned that an election challenge will soon be waged by dozens of Shores' homeowners incensed by the numerous actions perpetrated against candidates seeking election to the Service Corporation Board of Directors. In addition to personal attacks, there have also been allegations of election fraud, misuse of association funds for campaign purposes, wrongdoing by board and staff members among other violations.

"The last straw was when office employees, caught in the cookie jar tampering with the election, lied to law enforcement in order to obtain a trespass warning against me", stated Keith Goldstein, a Board candidate. "Once they were caught they apparently didn't want to be caught again." Mr. Goldstein further mentioned that at the advice of counsel, he would not be attending the annual meeting and stated, "Numerous homeowners have listed me as their proxy. It will be interesting how this plays out and the further lies that will be told as a result. Homeowner's Association election law obviously doesn't apply in the Shores!"

In addition to Mr. Goldstein's statements, we have received numerous copies of letters that have been sent to association management and board members by homeowners, questioning the handling of this years election and accusations made against and by candidates. The homeowners have stated that their requests for information regarding the allegations have mainly gone unanswered.

One such letter questioned the mailing list that was received by Allan Baker and whether other candidates were given access to the same information. This homeowner is very interested to learn if the mailing list was provided free of charge to Mr. Baker, as a current Board member, or if he had to pay the same copying fees that are the norm. Another great question should be, Who payed for the postage?

"Win or lose, I am ready to join the challenge to the election. I ran on integrity and it (the election) has been tainted from the start. Why sit under a cloud of controversy?", was Steve Raff's response, a candidate for the board.

To date, at least five (5) board candidates have agreed to join the election challenge along with dozens of homeowners.

"We need to take a stance and set precedent in order to assure that our residents never get treated like this again. Neighbors deserve more respect than what has been demonstrated during this campaign. These actions have made me sick and too many people have suffered." stated Ms. Kristen Thomas, another candidate.

Well stated Ms. Thomas, well stated! It is my personal opinion that homeowners should be encouraged to become part of the political process, not discouraged. Actions such as what has been demonstrated during this election season will only serve to isolate an already separatist community. We will keep you updated as this story develops.

If you have had enough and are interested in joining the election challenge, please notify us via E-mail and supply your name, address and phone number. condocommunicator@comcast.net
